elgg for iOS is a native mobile application for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Going mobile extends your elgg powered site to hundreds of millions of users world wide. All apps are built to your specific need and requirements.
Plugins
Any plugin can be made compatible with the iOS app, however these plugins are already developed and ready to go. You can chose which plugins you do and dont want in your app.
Home (Activity/River)
Enables your users to see the latest activity on your elgg site.
Profile
Displays a users profile. From here, users can edit their profile, write on their messageboards, post to the wire and more.
Friends
Shows a list of the users friends.
Groups
Users can interact with their groups. Share blogs, files and talk in forums. Admins can also edit the group.
Blogs
Blog can be viewed and written and comments can also be posted on blogs.
Files
Download files from your elgg site on the go and also upload photos.
Wire
Allows users to see the latest wire posts of their friend or the whole site, and lets them post their own too,
Messages
Allows users to communicate seemlessly with each other. Upon recieving a message, a user with an iPhone recieves a push notification.*
As you can see from our list of plugins, the iOS app allows you to communicate with your elgg site with incredible ease. If a plugin that you want is not listed above, don’t worry. We integrate it into the app without any worries.
Maintenance + Yearly fee
Elgg for iOS requires a mandatory annual maintenance subscription. Why? elgg for iOS, like all other apps, is controlled by the operating system (OS) of the mobile device, in this case iOS. These operating systems are updated frequently due to bugs, security issues and the new addition of features. Because of this, all apps have to be updated to the current OS. At the moment, an update to the OS will still allow the apps to work, but if not updated, the apps will lose functionality and stop performing.
What else is included? Besides free updates to the latest iOS versions, we offer a subsidised rate for any feature updates your wish to add to the app.
